Who is KRS
The KRS Academy is an online education platform founded in 2020 in Vancouver. It was initially created to support homeschooling for ESL students during the challenging early days of the pandemic. Five years later, thanks to the trust and support of our parents and students, we have grown into a thriving community with over 300 students and 30 dedicated tutors.
About our students
As a 100% women- and mom-owned company, we understand exactly what parents want—the best for their children. Our students come from all over the world, including China, Korea, and Japan, and their English learning needs range from foundational lessons to advanced coursework for international school students.
About our tutors
Our tutors come from North America, the UK, and South Africa. They are not only passionate about teaching but also highly experienced educators. All of our tutors hold TEFL or TESOL qualifications, and many are certified teachers from local schools. Some have even taught at international schools and hold IB teaching certifications.
About our curriculum
We believe that reading is the foundation of learning and essential to mastering a new language. At KRS, we have adapted well-established reading programs from the U.S. and the UK to help our students excel in literacy. In addition to teaching classic children’s literature, such as the Newbery Medal-winning books, we incorporate nonfiction resources like National Geographic. Our curriculum also includes writing workshops, academic writing, world history, public speaking and debating, French lessons, and more. Our professional curriculum development team follows the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in the U.S. to ensure our lessons meet the highest academic standards.
